So What's It All About

About The Blog

"The Armchair Sociologist" is a project born out of my love of documentaries, in particular which choose to focus on sub-groups of society, not only exploring what drives their subject but also serving to give the outsider an insight in the frequently fascinating worlds that these sub-groups have created for themselves. Be they Bronies (Guys who love My Little Pony) or Punk Jews there constantly seems to be a new group being exposed through the use of documentary films. While I have covered quite a few of these films over at "From The Depths of DVD Hell", I felt that the only way to properly immerse myself in a serious study of these films and the groups they covered would be to dedicate them a site of their own and so here we are. Needless to say I am always open to recommendations / suggestions of what films to cover and due to the sheer amount of these films out there it can mean films get missed, so if you know a film you'd like to see covered let me know.

About Me

Well first off my name is Elwood Jones and since 2009 I have been blogging about cult, foreign and obscure cinema over on my main site "From The Depths of DVD Hell". This in turn lead to the creation of the 1001 film introduction to cult and obscure cinema "Mad, Bad and Downright Strange" a mass cross blogging project to produce the list which is currently being worked through on its supporting podcast "The Mad, Bad and Downright Strange: Showcase". I can also be found over at "Channel Superhero" which looks at Superhero TV shows and were I get to spend far too much time getting excited about "Batman Beyond".
